It’s been a long wait for the Moto Turbo (XT1225) users in India. The 2014 flagship from Motorola has been at the back of the queue for receiving the Android 6.0 update and has seen more popular models such as the Moto G given a more favorable treatment by the company. Nonetheless, today is finally the day that owners of the phone (not to be confused with Moto G Turbo, which was updated to Android 6.0 long back) can update their phones to Marshmallow. Although it can no longer be called the latest Android version (that title belongs to Android Nougat), it’s still good to see that the company hasn’t completely forgotten about the phone.
The update takes the phone to Android 6.0.1 and hit our device only moments back. Android 6.0 brings features such as doze mode, granular permissions, and Google Now on Tap. It also brings new security updates to the phone. The doze mode should make the already stellar battery life on the device to beat its own personal records.
The update weighs a hefty 965.2MB, so we would recommend downloading it on a WiFi network. We’re not sure if this would be the end of the road as far as updates are concerned for the handset, or whether Motorola will be kind enough to update the phone to Android N. We’ll update this space in case we discover any new features post the update.
