This laptop costs more than a Hyundai i20 and not because it’s slim

When one thinks of an expensive laptop, Macbook Pro is the something that usually comes to mind. Although, even with a price tag of over Rs 2 lakhs, it seems like a bargain compared to this beast of a laptop we spotted on Flipkart. We’re talking about the Acer Predator 21 X and it costs as much as the mid variant of the Hyundai i20 in India (Astra 1.2).

Believe it or not, the Acer Predator 21 X can be yours for a whopping Rs 6,99,999. Yes, you heard it right, that’s seven lakhs worth of technology. And no, it doesn’t carry that price tag because it’s slim or light weight. In fact, the Predator 21 X pretty much mocks at those slim laptops out there. Also, you might need a exoskeleton suit to carry it around in your bag pack. Not only is it as thick as a burger, but it weighs close to 8.5kg.

While its dimensions might not justify that kind of price tag, its specifications do. The Predator 21 X comes with a curved 21-inch display sporting a resolution of 2560×1080 pixels that supports G-Sync with a refresh rate of 120Hz. To make sure everything runs butter smooth on that display, the laptop has been packed with two top of the line GTX 1080 cards in SLI configuration. That’s a mind boggling 16GB VRAM. To complete the package, the laptop has also been loaded with two 512GB SSDs, 1TB hard disk, 64GB DDR4 RAM at 2.4GHz, and a quad-core Core i7-7820HK. The trackpad on the right of the keyboard can be flipped to reveal a numeric keypad that sticks back using magnets. Oh, and it’s been also packed with 4 speakers and 2 subwoofers because why not?

To run at this level of performance requires two adapters to charge this machine, since no single power adapter is capable of delivering the power that it requires to run such a configuration.

We can’t vouch for the battery life on this beast (which has been rated at 1.2 hours on Flipkart), but we’re pretty certain it will not even break sweat running any game that you can possibly throw at it on the maximum resolution. In fact, it is the most powerful and the most expensive laptop out there in the market anywhere in the world. The machine is so huge that it has its own carry case in case you decide to take it along with you on vacation (or just to the next block).

Does it make sense to buy this laptop? No. You can get cheaper gaming laptops and build a gaming PC and buy a small car in the same budget. But if you have a ton of cash at hand and you like the idea of flaunting your gaming rig in front of your friends, why not? You might end up as the only owner of the laptop for miles around. That counts for something, right?
